British Airways resume flights to Sharm el Sheikh
Posted by: | CommentsBritish Airways is launching its thrice-weekly direct non-stop services from Gatwick to Sharm El Sheikh from October 26, 2009. This signifies a return for the airline’s colours to this popular Red Sea resort, with the new direct non-stop London Gatwick flights to Sharm El Sheikh departing on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
As well as the new flights to Sharm El Sheikh, British Airways will also be adding The Maldives to its already extensive network. Richard Tams, British Airways’ head of UK & Ireland sales, said: “These new routes will be great assets to the BA network and a real winner with customers. They are both perfect holiday destinations, known for their great beaches and fantastic diving. We’re particularly pleased to be serving a completely new destination, the Maldives, and returning to Sharm El Sheikh. We expect both routes to perform well.”
Holidays in Sharm El Sheikh have proved popular with tourist for years due to their promise of sun-filled days on the beach and spotting turtles on the coral reefs, as well as offering the ability to explore the desert by camel and spend the nights feasting on traditional Bedouin food and stargazing.

Thomas Cook expands Yorkshire flying
Posted by: | CommentsNew winter and summer 2010 destinations are being added from Leeds/Bradford airport by Thomas Cook Airlines.
Sharm El Sheikh and Monastir in Tunisia will be offered this winter while the Egyptian Red Sea resort and Antalya will be introduce for next summer.
Winter flights to Sharm El Sheikh will run between November 3 and April 27 while Monastir will be served between November 1 and 22 and March 7 to April 25.
Summer services to Antalya in Turkey and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt will operate between May 4 and October 26.
Thomas Cook Airlines also runs winter flights from Leeds/Bradford to Arrecife, Fuerteventura, Larnaca, Las Palmas and Tenerife.
The summer 2010 network adds Alicante, Antalya, Bodrum, Crete, Dalaman, Faro, Ibiza, Malaga, Malta, Menorca, Palma Rhodes and Zante.

Jet2 to fly from East Midlands Airport
Posted by: | CommentsWe would like to let you know some fantastic news, today (28th August 2009) Jet2.com announced the launch of a brand new base at East Midlands Airport, creating over 130,000 seats, seven new direct destinations and 250 new jobs for the region.
The airline will offer low fare destinations from East Midlands Airport to Lanzarote, Corfu, Dalaman, Heraklion, Paphos, Tenerife and Sharm El Sheikh which are available to book today for departures from May 2010, with starting fares from £59.99 one way including taxes.
It will also be possible to book package tours through Jet2holidays.com to these destinations from £269 per person for seven nights. This will extend Jet2.com’s catchment area further into Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and surrounding areas.
Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director at Jet2.com said, “At a time when many competitors are cutting services and closing bases, we are increasing ours with our ambitious expansion into the Midlands which will be our seventh base to date within the UK.”

Jet2.com expands Manchester schedules
Posted by: | CommentsJet2.com has unveiled three new routes for summer 2010 from Manchester airport to Kos, Venice and Gran Canaria.
The announcement came as Ryanair dislcosed plans to cut routes from the airport. Kos and Venice are new scheduled services not previously served by the airport.
Jet2.com has also increased its frequency of its summer 2010 services to Lanzarote, Dalaman, Sharm el Sheikh and Tel Aviv.
It will base a 737 aircraft at the airport, taking the total number of Jet2.com aircraft at Manchester to seven.
Destinations and starting fares for summer 2010 now on sale from Manchester include:

• Kos from £69.99 one way including taxes departing from 26 May 2010
